Independent Candidates

As I am championing the cause of independents I wanted to highlight a few that I know are standing here.

This is by no means an exhaustive list and if you can’t see anyone in your constituency, that doesn’t mean that you won’t have an independent candidate. If you do know of someone I have missed (or if you are standing) please drop me a note at independent.mps@googlemail.com

A full list of those independents endorsed by the Independet Network can be found here

If you want to get involved and help out any of the independents listed with either financial or physical (knocking on doors etc) support, then I’m sure it would be gratefully received. If possible please contact them directly as I have no affiliation with them. However, if you email me on the above email I’ll be happy to forward any messages as well.

Constituency: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Name: Mrs Diane Park
Why do you want to be an MP: To make a difference, to be able to make the voice of the people of Halifax heard in Westminster. To consult as widely as possible to discover the wishes, desires and ambition of the constituents of Halifax and to deliver.
I think I can make a difference with straight talking and common sense; by consulting, influencing and promoting Halifax and always working for the people of Halifax with enthusiasm and drive.
I promise to strive to improve the well-being, security, life opportunities and happiness to the constituents of Halifax.

Constituency: Dagenham & Rainham
Name: Gordon Kennedy
Why do you want to be an MP: I expect to live here the rest of my life, and I just don’t want to leave my future, my families future, or my neighbours future in the hands of those I do not trust. I now see everyone is in politics for something, everyone has a self interest, I want long term solutions properly thought through.

Constituency: Hexham
Name: Dr. Steven Ford
Why do you want to be an MP: Tribal party politics has had its day – it is dying before our eyes. Complaining in private conversations, writing hot letters to the press and shouting at the TV don’t help – in order to change politics for the better, it is essential to be directly personally engaged.

Constituency: Luton South
Name: Dr. Stephen Lathwell, PhD
Why do you want to be an MP: Everyone else argues over HOW to educate children. I am standing on WHAT to educate children. The current politicians are not listening to the problems that companies face in recruiting an educated workforce, and we are declining in educational standards annually.

Constituency: South East Cambridgeshire
Name: Geoffrey Woollard
Why do you want to be an MP: To be able to represent my constituency by thinking things through for myself, making up my own mind on the important issues of the day, and acting and voting accordingly. And not toeing ‘the party line.’
